The black dial is in very fine condition, with the Rado pivoting anchor logo and steel emblem and just a few marks of wear. It has chunky steel hour markers with lume dots at the outer ends, at 12 o’clock only a lume square above the logo. The inner rotating bezel in red and white is in very fine condition with just a few aging marks. The very wide baton hands are in fine condition with the original lume intact, the seconds hand with the characteristic square towards its tip. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock displays the date, which can be semi quick-set by first turning the hands through midnight so the date changes, then immediately turning the hands backwards to 20:30 and then forward through midnight again until the date changes. Repeat as necessary. The heavy stainless steel case with embedded lugs and the original crowns is in fine condition with some overall wear both on the face and the sides. This watch has an unusual combination of crowns, with the 3 o’clock crown only operating the inner bezel and the smaller crown at 4 o’clock winding the watch and setting the time. Note that the 3 o’clock crown should NOT be pulled out! The stainless steel case back is in very fine condition with a well preserved Seahorse medallion at its center and a few marks of wear throughout. The case appears to never have been polished. The original steel bracelet is in very fine condition visually both on the links and the double fold clasp with the Rado logo, and is nice and tight. It is large enough for moderately big wrists. Make sure the specific bracelet size listed in the details fits your wrist as finding spare links for old bracelets is very difficult. Inside the watch, the high grade AS 1859 movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-10 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in November 2023 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning. The Captain Cook is probably Rado’s most iconic model, introducing their very cool pivoting anchor logo and only produced for a few years. The model was re-introduced just a few years ago but this is the original. Our watches are delivered in a luxury wooden watch box, fully serviced with a 12 month warranty that covers the mechanical functioning of the watch under normal use. We offer 14 days full return rights and are very proud of our reputation for outstanding customer satisfaction. NB!
