Today's offering showcases this very rare and extremely refined ladies Piaget "joaillerie" backwinding watch.
With a diameter of only 13.4mm, this miniature masterpiece showcases incredible watchmaking skills. In a day an age when watches have become bigger and bigger, it's often forgotten that the truest test of elite watchmaking skill is going small.
Of the many luxurious ladies watches manufactured during vintage times, the backwind models were usually a company's top-of-the-line mechanical offering for women, often covered in jewels, and often costing the equivalent of many thousands of dollars or tens of thousands in today's valuation. These watches also possessed a great level of artistic refinement, concealing their winding crowns beneath the case back to avoid disrupting the watch's perfect purity and full symmetry.
Much more than just an object d'art, this luxurious jeweled accessory also showcased the state-of-the-art in miniaturization technology at the time.
It would have been quite the statement piece for a very special woman - and now it's available to be a statement piece for you or your loved one.
Crafted from 18K white gold by master jewelers and bejeweled with 10 diamonds, its case embodies elegance and refined taste. The original Piaget perfect factory set diamonds are white, extremely clean, and full of fire as you would expect from a watch of this caliber.
The settings for the diamonds are wonderful - they are artfully incorporated into the case design giving the watch an even greater level of dimensionality. The bracelet has an unusual aspect as well, with oval pieces bark textured matching the case giving it greater interest when view from the side.
It silver bark textured dial gives the watch a monochromatic style and adds another handwrought texture to what the case and bracelet already showcase.
We were fortunate to acquire this with its original parts, save for one tiny screw on the back which has previously been replaced. It appears to have spent nearly all of its life stored away and only worn very carefully with an appreciation for its value and rarity.

Timed: Timed to precision on a state-of-the-art computerized system. Amazingly, despite its small size, after our servicing it is keeping time essentially on par with a new Piaget in our testing recording position.

One used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealership and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center and also has done authorized servicing work the Cartier Service Center and the Richemont Group, the owners Piaget.
