After inventing the first world time mechanism, in 1937 Louis Cottier made his first 17’’’ world time pocket watch movement for Patek Philippe and until 1964 he delivered 95 of these calibers to the Swiss-polish maison. Most of them is believed were cased in the illustrious reference 605HU (where HU stands for Heures Universelles). Despite being one of the most fascinating and innovative timepiece available at the time, this reference, equipped with silvered or pink dials wasn’t received with enthusiasm but rather sales showed negative trends. With the passing of time, this amazing clock manager obtain the respect and importance it deserves. The 605HU here offered is part of a small series realized in yellow gold with snap on back all in very crisp original overall condition considering its manufacturing has been done in 1948. The silvered dial has with applied yellow gold dot indexes and Roman quarter-hour numerals, outer Arabic dark and light revolving chapter ring for day and night hours and the world time chapter ring, bearing the name of 42 locations around the world and revolving with the bezel according to the Louis Cottier world time patent.With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1948 and its subsequent sale on 20 Dicember 1949
