The Patek Philippe Ellipse is one of the most interesting watches produced by the firm. The proportions were taken from an ancient Greek formula, the "golden section," time honored to be the perfect shape. The present example from the 1990s, uses a motif of interlocking ellipse shapes as hinged lugs for the bracelet. This gives the watch a fun, playful look that is customised with rubies and diamonds set into the case.
