Launched in 2010, the ref. 5726 followed Patek’s decision to revamp the Nautilus collection in 2006. Not only seeking to update the Nautilus aesthetically, they also did something they had never done before; fit a stainless steel watch with an annual calendar. Having only invented the complication less than two decades ago, the Annual calendar-clad ref. 5726 demonstrated just how seriously Patek Philippe thought of the Nautilus by fitting it with a brand-defining complication. Sitting in the upper echelons of the Nautilus collection thanks to its satisfyingly symmetrical dial, iconic octagonal design, and practical utility, the ref. 5726 is a useful watch that blends the everyday wearability of the Nautilus’ sports watch design with one of Patek's best-known complications. With a date aperture at 6 o'clock underneath its 24-hour display and moon phase indicator, which share a subdial, and day and month apertures splitting the "Patek Philippe Geneve" inscription at 12 o'clock, the ref. 5726 is an astonishingly beautifully watch, as we have come to expect from the Genevan Giants. Fitted with a light black dial that matches its black leather strap, the ref. 5726 is a wonderfully monochromatic timepiece that exudes elegance and luxury in every bit that Patek Philippe have come to define.
