Released in 2017 to replace the outgoing Calatrava ref. 6000G, the Patek Philippe Calatrava ref. 6006G is perhaps one of the most visually distinctive Calatrava variants of modern times. Upsized from the ref. 6000G’s 37mm case to a relatively modern 39mm, the ref. 6006G fits in perfectly with contemporary sizing conventions while also featuring a unique dial design that departs from the Calatrava’s traditionally conservative aesthetic. With its running seconds subdial placed at 4 o’clock, it is asymmetrical while simultaneously featuring an array of Arabic numerals for its paradoxically traditional pointer date function and hour markers. An exciting blend of novel design choices, contemporary styling, and traditional functions, the Calatrava ref. 6006G is an incredible timepiece that, regardless of its nuances, fundamentally demonstrates Patek Philippe’s unrivaled ability to create intelligently designed timepieces that delight the senses and refrain from revealing too much of their subtleties at once. Powered by the ultra-thin micro-rotor cal. 240 PS C, the Calatrava ref. 6006G's movement can trace its origins as far back as the Golden Ellipse in 1977.
