Released in 2019 at Baselworld, the Patek Philippe Calatrava Weekly Calendar continues the Calatrava collection’s evolution from an understated dress watch to a modern horological marvel. Featuring a slew of new design elements, the ref. 5212A-001 comes equipped with the cal. 26‑330 S C J SE movement, featuring a new complication – a weekly calendar showing the current week alongside the day and date, a new dial design and a 40mm stainless-steel case with a stepped-bezel and Art-Deco inspired stepped lugs. Made of steel, a metal that Patek collectors hold to high esteem as Patek seldom uses it for their dress watches, the ref. 5212A is a unique watch in terms of Patek’s historical catalog. Featuring a stunning white dial that uses the watch’s designer’s own handwriting as its font and a tan-coloured leather strap, the ref. 5212 combines the elegant craftsmanship that Patek have become so well-known for with a casual sense of design that underscores Patek’s modern ethos as a watchmaker who has begun to take themselves a little less seriously than they have in the past.
