Mix arts such as hand-engraving one of the oldest decorative art form, Grand Feu enamel with different techniques: Cloisonné, paillonné, grisaille, enamel relief (Fauré enamel), Longwy enamel on ceramics with black-framed decorations, and the highly complex art of miniature painting on enamel and wood micromarquetry, produced as one of a kind or as limited editions wristwatches, they are very sought after by collectors. The present reference 5077P-061 is a unique rare handcrafted Patek Philippe Calatrava Carousel Green produced in 2011. Only a handful of watches from the 5077P Carousel series were made in a 38mm platinum case. It features a polychrome cloisonné enamel dial with the depiction of a carousel horse. Over the years, Patek Philippe has promoted and mastered the intricate art of rare handicrafts, including enameling, which is abundantly evident in this timepiece. From the use of 0.10mm thick gold ribbon for the partitions to applying techniques such as “paillonné” enameling (the art of covering small ornamental motifs with translucent enamel), the dial required the dedicated attention of a master enameller and engraver for over a week in order to render this beautiful work of art. To reach its final form displaying 7 enamel colors, the dial was put through 6 to 7 sequential firings. Besides the enamel work, the dial is decorated with four round gold spangles acting as hour markers at each cardinal point. Hours and minutes hands in “Dauphine” style are made of white gold. This stunning timepiece is a part of a limited series of 4, each unique model having a different dial color. Visible through the sapphire crystal case-back is the self-winding Calibre 240, an ultra-thin movement hand finished and decorated to the highest standards, stamped with PP seal. This unique work of art is offered on a hand-stitched black alligator strap with a platinum buckle. Patek Philippe – Bio Patek Philippe & Co. was founded in 1839, located in Geneva and the Vallée de Joux. It designs and manufactures timepieces and movements, including some of the most complicated mechanical watches. It is considered by many experts and aficionados to be one of the most prestigious watch manufacturers. In 1868, Patek Philippe made their first wristwatch, which was sold on November 13, 1876 to the Hungarian Countess. It is the last independent, family-owned Genevan watch manufacture with uninterrupted operating history spanning nearly 180 years.
