Best known for their Complication and Grand Complications watches Patek Philippe masters the “Haute Horlogerie” and are arguably the best in the industry. Conceived to meet existential or professional requests, these breakthrough complications live on.
Inspired by the military pilot wristwatches made in the 1930s, Patek Philippe surprised everyone with the release of its first modern pilot watch in 2015 with the reference 5524G called Patek Philippe Calatrava Pilot Travel Time.
After decades of absence, watch enthusiasts were taken by surprise and it received initially mix reviews, radically different from the existing catalogue pieces, it has a large case of 42mm made of white gold and a very new dark navy blue dial, with a grained matte texture and large white luminous Arabic numerals. Once people started to see it in real, all debates were over and even the most doubtful minds adopted the elegant and sporty-chic pilot watch.
To celebrate the Patek Philippe Singapore Exhibition in 2019, the famous Swiss manufacturer revealed this unisex version with a 37,5mm stainless steel case surrounding a lovely blue-grey dial. The vintage look comes from the large luminous indexes and the typical aviator watches hands, they indicate the hours & minutes while a white skeleton hand indicates the second timezone along with the day & night indication for both regions. The date is indicated by hand and visible at 6 o’clock.
It is powered by the self-winding Caliber 324 S C FUS, developed to have an easy and ludic approach on the dual-time function. A simple push on the pushers on the left side of the case and you can go forward or backward with the hour hand. Very practical indeed when you are crossing the globe back and forth!
