軍用時計を専門に製造していたパネライが民間への販売を開始したのは1997年。かつてのデザインを再現したのがパネライの代表モデル「ルミノール」です。サブマーシブルはパネライのラインナップの中でも特に人気のあるダイバーズウォッチで、1950年代にエジプト海軍のために製作されたモデルを基に作られています。中でもこちらは、「BMG－TECH」と呼ばれるガラス金属をケースに採用したPAM00692。BMG－TECHはリキッドメタルとも呼ばれ、ステンレスと比べて軽量で硬く、優れた腐食耐性、衝撃耐性、耐磁性能を備えた特殊合金です。
