Description

Omega Seamaster Diver 300m James Bond Titanium 210.90.42.20.01.001 Initially released in 1948 and based on watches used by airmen in WWII, the Omega Seamaster has become one of Omega’s best-known collections. Initially, a dress-style watch with thick lugs, the Seamaster was designed to promote daily wear while remaining functional for use in water with 62.5 meters of water resistance. However, the modern Seamaster that we know and love today was born nine years later, in 1957. This was when the Seamaster 300 was released after Omega was inspired to upgrade the Seamaster after they had 50 Seamaster cases with rubber O-ring gaskets tested in 1955, which led them to work with new materials and push their boundaries. As a result, they created the Seamaster 300, which featured a heavily luminescent dial and handset, a rotating bezel, a thick domed hesalite crystal, and double crown seals. Interestingly, while named the Seamaster 300, the watch was originally only rated for 200m of water resistance, with Omega insisting the watch could outperform the testing equipment. Either way, the Seamaster lives on as James Bond's watch of choice and now enjoys the privileged position in today’s market as one of the most iconic dive watches ever released. Launched in 2021, the Seamaster that we have here is the ref. 210.90.42.20.01.001, which is aesthetically identical to the timepiece that Daniel Craig’s James Bond wore in his last film, No Time to Die. Entirely made of grade 2 titanium and inspired by James Bond’s role as a military spy, the timepiece boasts several trademarks of a military-issued timepiece such as the arrow on its dial at 6 o’clock and caseback and the numbers that are also on its caseback that mimic the issuance numbers used on real pieces of military kit. Offered with a brown dial and ceramic bezel with a fauxtina luminous indices and hands, this stunning collection blends elegant style and rugged design with James Bond’s dangerous lifestyle and his iconic position as one of cinema’s best-known spies. THE DIAL Boasting a brown dial and a brown bezel, both with fauxtina numerals and indices, the ref. 210.90.42.20.01.001's display is effortlessly stylish, with its arrow insignia at 6 o'clock highlighting James Bond's military heritage. THE CONSTRUCTION While large at 42mm, the ref. 210.90.42.20.01.001's titanium case and titanium mesh bracelet combine to ensure the timepiece does not impede on its wearer's dexterity.
