Description: Historically important, Antique, stainless steel OMEGA Marine -World's first commercial dive watch, circa 1932. Model reference CK679. 23 mm x 34 mm stainless steel two-part double case with sealing clip at rear. Case houses a manual winding calibre 19,4 T1/T2 movement. Arabic numeral dial with lumnous hands, and sapphire crystal outer glass, inner mineral glass. Aftermarker leather strap and buckle - Clasp engraved F.G Peacock. Watch only. The world's first commercially available divers' watch was introduced by OMEGA in 1932. Named the Marine, it utilised an ingenious, patented double case sealed with cork to keep water and the elements away from the heart of the watch. Taking the innovation further, OMEGA also introduced an adjustable clasp with a divers' extension so that wearers could fit the watch comfortably to their own wrist. The OMEGA Marine became an instant success and helped to make a very dangerous profession a lot safer. For many diving pioneers, it was the watch of choice. Going deeper than any watch before, it was successfully tested in Lake Geneva - not far from OMEGA's headquarters - at a depth of 73 metres. Even more stringent laboratory tests were carried out five years later and found the watch to be completely waterproof to a depth of 135 metres. All watches are sold "As Is". Webb's make no guarantee of the future working order of the watch or battery life, and watches may need to be serviced to improve accuracy. Generally none of the watches have been tested for time keeping accuracy or running time, nor have any seals been tested on water-resistant watches. If they have been tested this is for indication purposes only and not guaranteed. Vintage watches may have been restored or repaired over the years, as such Webb's cannot guarantee that individual component parts are original or authentic.
