Description

Omega Speedmaster 2998-4

One of the most popular vintage Speedmasters in the world, reference 2998 was the first Omega timepiece to be worn in space, venturing on the wrist of astronaut Wally Schirra in 1962. The present reference 2998-4 is an exceptional example, featuring the applied Omega logo on the dial, Alpha hands for the hours and minutes, and a small luminous spear at the tip of its chronograph hand. Delivered in 1961 to CH. The movement is in good working condition. The chronograph function is working properly. The dial is in attractive condition. The luminous indexes are discoloured but still react well under UV. The hands are lightly tarnished. The case with minor polishing from the past servicing, minor wear especially to the band at 9 o'clock. There are marks to the case back from opening. Otherwise the watch is in very good overall condition considering its age. My watchmaker recommends revising the watch in two or three years.
