Omega Speedmaster 2998-6, ‘60s

Stainless steel round case, black acrylic DON bezel, round pushers. Black dial, luminescent indexes, applied logo, Alpha hands. Hand-winding movement, 321 caliber, n.18419943. Stainless steel JB Champion bracelet. Size: 39 mm. Accompanied by Omega extract from the archives. Notes: Launched in 1959, reference 2998 was the successor of the very first Speedmaster model 2915, introduced in 1957. It is also known for being the first Speedmaster in space as it was the personal watch of Wally Shirra during the Sigma 7 Mission of the Mercury program in October 1962.
