Description

1968 Omega Speedmaster Reference 145.012 Why This Watch Matters The Speedmaster 145.012 not only offers the iconic 42mm case with lyre lugs, but also the revered caliber 321 that would soon be replaced by the caliber 861. Add a great patina and the original bezel, and you get a pretty compelling Speedy. The Full Story There is no debate that the Speedmaster is among the most iconic wristwatches ever produced, partly thanks to the revered caliber 321, a key feature of the vintage Speedmaster. The reference 145.012 was actually the very last Speedy with this movement, housed in a 42mm case with lyre lugs. In addition, the painted indexes and luminous handset often takes the type of patina we cannot resist, while the applied logo on the dial adds a bit of sophistication to this tool watch. This watch has everything you want in a vintage Speedmaster. This example exhibits the nice patina we love, both on the hands and indexes. The “Dot-over-ninety” bezel is correct for the reference, and it remains very legible with minimal traces of impact. The 42mm case is unpolished but shows many scratches, which is to be expected after close to 50 years. The chronograph function works well.
