OMEGA Speedmaster ALASKA PROJECT The Omega Speedmaster Alaska Project Limited Edition was released in 2008 and is based on the 1970s Alaska II Project watch that Omega produced. NASA began a project in 1969 under the code name ‘Alaska’ to produce a watch with Omega that could further withstand potential extreme temperature change whilst on the Moon. The first of these being a huge oversized titanium case model that featured the now famous White dial, Rocket hands and outer Red heat shield. The design was refined and using the Professional case of the standard Moonwatch the Alaska II Prototype was born still with the addition of the large outer Red temperature case, white dial and Rocket hands. Becoming the basis for the iconic 2008 Limited Edition. This particular piece features a collectible low 1xx LE number out of the 1970 made.
