Description

Omega Speedmaster Pre-Moon 2998 - 1 (1960)

It is a well-documented fact that the Omega Speedmaster reference 2998 was the very first watch worn in space, Wally Schirra in October 1962 has that honour and in my opinion this is the best looking Speedmaster produced, the combination of Alpha hour and minute hands and drop counter weight chrono hand complement each other superbly. This stunning watch from 1960 (Papers of the Omega Archive are available!) is clean and free from any blemishes including a DON bezel. The dial is replaced by on original dial from around 1962-63 but the original dial is part of the deal (see pictures). The cal 321 movement is in the correct 17 million range for this watch and dates the piece to exactly the right age and performs superbly. The watch (movement) is serviced and in great condition and not worn the last decade. The watch comes with a new kroko strap and Omega deployment buckle but also with an original Omega bracelet (7912) including end links (6) in a great shape.
