Omega Seamaster 145.016

A true exercise in subtle, understated watch design this Omega Seamaster is not. With a solid 18K Yellow Gold construction and matching gold dial, this is 1970s maximalism in full affect. The Seamaster collection in the 70s was as varied as it was colourful. From the staple 300 and 600 collections to the eclectic chronograph range, Omega really went to town. Four variants were made in 18k gold, this one being the earliest. Omega supplied this on either a leather or 18k gold bracelet, this one having a Milanese Mesh rather than the 1116 type, which really screams 70s extravagance. The movement is identical to the Speedmaster movement of the era - the calibre 861 - the subtle difference with these Seamaster chrono models was the water resistance; Omega used a metal gasket under the Hesalite glass to up the water resistance to 60 metres. We especially love the contrast found with its dial and hands, stark black Onyx enamel hands against the gold radial sunburst dial makes for a visually striking and supremely legible experience. The watch has recently been serviced and is running great, and the bracelet will fit up to a 20cm wrist.
