It's dial, markers and hands were given a thorough cleaning and are now in mint condition. Its silver case was also thoroughly cleaned and buffed as best as possible without compromising its shape and lines albeit a few miniscule scratches that are barely noticeable. The crystal is original and was also given a good buff. The signed crown is located at the traditional 3H position and are easily accessible. The movement was carefully stripped and meticulously cleaned via ultrasonic immersion, oiled, re-assembled and calibrated on 12 July 2024. In short, it was given a full restoration and not a standard touch-up service, and should be able to operate unhindered until the next servicing thereby providing the owner peace of mind. Equipped with the well revered 2200A ETA 2895-2 movement, it has 27 Jewels and operate at a high-beat 28,800 BPH. The time-grapher, after hours of calibration, shows superb readings of -1 seconds every 24 hours and amplitude of 199 with a straight centered line! Such readings are truly exceptional even by brand new modern automatic watch standards whereby the accepted tolerance is -20 to +40 seconds a day! This is a testament to the quality, excellent power reserve, the meticulous care provided over the years, and the painstaking expert calibration conducted. The case width and height are approx. 40.2mm (w/o crown) and 51.5mm respectively. The lug width is 24mm and the leather strap can accommodate wrists up to 20.0cm; hence, this watch is suitable for men and the modern women. The watch comes with an original Omega 1938 strap and a brand new aftermarket 1938 lookalike with original signed silver buckle. Due to its age, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested even though all seals are present. The pictures provided shows the watch in mint condition, and the movement within squeaky clean and well maintained. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear + tear, and improve accuracy. Only 4,938 re-editions were commissioned, and this timepiece is numbered 1699. However, I had sent the watch for a thorough overhaul some years ago and decided to replace the ENTIRE casing (minus dial and movement) with a spare case. Thus, the price breakdown for the Buyer to choose what he wishes as part of the package. The additional casing numbered 4230/4938 will be replaced with the original case should the Buyer decide not to purchase the spare case. Should the Buyer decide to purchase the entire package, the new owner will thus enjoy the using of this watch in the spare casing while keeping the original casing safe and sound. In fact, the new owner may just purchase a 1938 dial and Calibre 2200 movement, and voila! You have a second 1938 watch! Items included are: Complete watch with original leather strap, watch carboard box packaging, commemorative wooden box with glass window, warranty card, signed warranty certificate, relevant documentation, 1 calf leather pouch, 1 calf leather cloth, and leg leather belt with watch buckle straps - it was a common practice during WW2 for pilots to wear their watch on their thigh because of the thick gloves worn during flight due to an unpressurised aircraft cabin. Additional items include the spare watch case (glass & bezel, watch case, movement housing, and case-back) and a brand new OEM watch strap for the 4230 case (as shown). This very rare watch will make a beautiful birthday present for that special someone born in 2006, and its value will appreciate over time. Yes, there are many who are selling the same watch at a cheaper price but there are not many who can produce all the above items to confirm originality and authenticity. Additional Costs for spare complete case as per "Additional Items" is S$ 2,200.00
