Description
OMEGA De Ville Reference 166.098 Steel city watch with automatic movement. • Round steel case, smooth bezel, fluted crown, screwed back. • “Electric” blue dial, applied baton indexes with luminescent dots, straight luminescent hands, right central second hand, date window at 3 o'clock (grey background). • Black leather strap, metal pin buckle. Case, dial and movement signed. Mechanical movement with automatic winding. (Caliber 1481 - movement number: 33.395.373) Diameter: 34 mm - Strap length: 16 - 20 cm Extremely similar to the previous watch (lot 51), this watch has an automatic movement. Sign of the importance of showing this technology, the word "Automatic" appears just below the brand. The dial is a rare metal blue painted dial, very changing along the axis of light. Colored dials were rare at the time. While colored dials have been extremely sought after for a few years, finding a vintage watch with a period colored dial is quite difficult. Some people working at dial makers put forward the figures of 50/60% rejection of this blue color at the time. A similar model is in the Omega Museum in Biel under reference 97 (page 478). Condition report: Good general condition, stains and oxidation on the dial, scratches from use and patina on the case, the watch works during the expertise, without guarantee of operation over time, a service is recommended.
