Description

Fine and Elegant, Powermatic, Automatic Wristwatch in Steel, With Fancy Lugs and Power Reserve Indication Model: Powermatic Case Material: Stainless Steel Bracelet Material: Leather Strap Year: 1940's Movement: Automatic Caliber: 481 Case N°: 564066 Movement N°: 874849 Dimensions: 34 mm Signed: Dial, Movement and Case Since its founding in 1833, Jaeger-LeCoultre has been highly inventive, developing over 1,249 mechanical calibres. Among them is the automatic movement 481, introduced in late 1948, and notable for being the first Jaeger-LeCoultre with a power reserve meter. The lot offered here is an excellent example of the Powermatic, featuring a very well-preserved stainless steel case with deep engravings on the back and distinctive fancy lugs. The white dial has aged to a charming ivory color and is embellished with applied baton and Arabic numerals. At 12 o’clock, it features the aforementioned power reserve indicator, which reads '40' on a white background when fully wound and changes to red as the charge falls below 10 hours.
