The Jaeger-LeCoultre Ref 2985, also known as the «Geophysic DeLuxe», epitomizes a significant and scarce demonstration of the brand’s dedication to precision and pioneering in the field of anti-magnetic chronometers. Launched in tandem with the widely recognized Ref E168 Geophysic to commemorate the International Geophysical Year and the 125th anniversary of Jaeger-LeCoultre, the Ref 2985 utilizes the identical foundational Cal P 478/BWSB movement. The Geophysic DeLuxe was crafted in highly limited editions, only 103 units in total—23 in pink gold and 80 in yellow gold, with none produced in steel. This scarcity renders it an extraordinarily rare discovery.
Antiquorum is thrilled to showcase this specimen, one of the prestigious 80 yellow gold versions. Entrusted by the same collector who owned the E168, this timepiece has been carefully stored in a safe for over three decades, ensuring its preservation in good condition despite the presence of some oxidation and spotting on the dial. The case is in excellent condition with some oxidation as well, complete with the Chronometer Geophysic stickers. The two hallmarks on the back of the lugs are distinctly defined and sharp, confirming its authenticity and the meticulous care it has received over the years.
