Grand Seiko - Lions Mane
The Grand Seiko SBGA403 was introduced in 2019 as part of a significant celebration for the brand: the 20th anniversary of Grand Seiko’s Spring Drive movement. This release marked an important milestone in the brand’s history, showcasing the continued evolution of the Spring Drive technology, which was first introduced in 1999.
Grand Seiko SBGA403 is often referred to as the “Lion’s Mane” due to its unique dial texture and design inspiration. The watch’s dial features a deeply textured pattern that is meant to evoke the appearance of a lion’s mane, symbolizing strength and elegance.
The Spring Drive movement was a groundbreaking innovation by Seiko, combining the best aspects of mechanical and quartz watches. It uses a mainspring for power, like a traditional mechanical watch, but replaces the escapement with an electronic regulator that uses a quartz crystal, allowing for a continuously smooth seconds hand and exceptional accuracy.
