FP Journe Octa Reserve de Marche Platinum Early Rose Gold Dial Brass Movement

Launched in 2001 and produced until 2005, the F.P. Journe Octa Reserve De Marche was the first automatic timepiece with a power reserve of over 120 hours. As with nearly every F.P. Journe timepiece, the Octa Reserve De Marche revolutionized the conventional idea of what was possible for a watch of its type. Powered by the automatic cal. 1300, the Octa Reserve De Marche’s 30mm x 5.7mm brass movement packed its large date display and incredibly impressive 120-hours of power reserve within just three layers of labyrinthine architecture. Featuring an 18k rose gold oscillating weight and incredible finishing, the cal. 1300 is a stunning sight to behold and is fitting for such an exceedingly rare and beautiful watch. Sporting F.P. Journe’s signature dial design, the Octa Reserve De Marche boasts a golden dial with its off-center time and seconds subdials at 3 o’clock in white screwed down on top of the grainy golden base. As with F.P. Journe’s early dials, this golden dial features a grainy texture that shimmers vividly, and allows the timepiece’s natural patina to make then piece unique in its own right. As for the white time displays, the hours and minutes are shown on the larger of the two, and the running seconds on the smaller of the two, and the power reserve takes up the 9 o’clock side of the dial. Sitting atop the dial is the large date display that acts like a crown on one of F.P. Journe’s early entrants within the kingdom of independent watchmaking, a kingdom they have conquered. THE DIAL Offered as one of the earlier pieces within this collection, this 2002 example boasts one of F.P. Journe's earlier displays whereby the golden dial features a subtle grainy texture that brings the entire watch to life as it dances in the light. THE MOVEMENT While today famed for making their movements entirely out of 18kt rose gold, early pre-2004 F.P. Journe timepieces feature brass movements, just like the cal. 1300 in this 2002-dated example.
