En 1958 Eterna a sorti le modèle Kon-Tiki pour marquer le succès de l'expédition du même nom menée un an auparavant par l'anthropologue Thor Heyerdahl. Ce dernier avait demandé à Eterna de lui fournir une montre particulièrement résistante pour l'accompagner dans son aventure maritime entre le Pérou et les îles polynésiennes.
Après 101 jours de mer et un périple de 4300 milles nautiques, la terre apparaît à l'horizon. Il s'agit de l'archipel des Tuamotu-Gambier. Le radeau s'échoue finalement sur un récif de l'atoll de Raroia; à part les avaries dues à ce dernier incident le radeau est en parfait état de navigation et l'équipage est indemne. Le Kon-Tiki sera récupéré et on peut aujourd'hui l'admirer au musée qui lui est consacré à Oslo.
In 1958, Eterna released the Kon-Tiki model to mark the success of the expedition of the same name led a year earlier by anthropologist Thor Heyerdahl. He had asked Eterna to supply him with a particularly resistant watch to accompany him on his maritime adventure between Peru and the Polynesian islands.
After 101 days at sea and 4300 nautical miles, land appeared on the horizon. It was the Tuamotu-Gambier archipelago. The raft finally runs aground on a reef at Raroia atoll; apart from the damage caused by this incident, the raft is in perfect sailing condition and the crew is unharmed. The Kon-Tiki was salvaged and can now be admired in the museum dedicated to it in Oslo.
