Enicar Racine WWI 1915-1919 Compass Trench Watch Very Rare World War 1 Historical/Museum Piece

Basic Info Listing code : LF29E2 Brand : Enicar Movement : Manual winding Year of production : 1915 (Approximation) Condition : Used (Good) Scope of delivery : No original box, no original papers Gender : Men's watch/Unisex Location : Macedonia, Resen Price : 1,390 Availability : Item is in stock Caliber Movement : Manual winding Case Case diameter : 33 x 46 mm An exceedingly rare and wonderful example of a WWI Enicar / Racine trench watch found in France. The movement is running though should be cleaned/serviced if you intend to wear this lovely piece of history. While it starts ticking at the slightest movement, it does have an irregular beat that would require a cleaning. The porcelain/enamel dial is in fair condition with some minor cracking and lime loss, both on dial and hands. The case is not marked, though I believe it to be silver, however I do not guarantee this as it has not been tested. Compass is functional, clean and seems to be working! Compass material appears to be brass. The most unique and intriguing aspects of this example are the engravings on the case. While we can't know when exactly the engravings were made or what they specifically mean, I have dug up a bit of possible info on each: "1914 Campagne 1915" - likely refers to the 'Serbian Campaign'; three unsuccessful attacks by the Austrio-Hungarian Empire against the Kingdom of Serbia. "Rupt-en-Woevre" - a town in France and where the US 26th Division was stationed during WW1 (from 1917). "Maros" - likely either refers to the Maros (Mures) River in Hungary or the SMS Maros Battleship which was redeployed during WW1 and one of the two oldest warships then used (the other being the SMS Leitha). Pieces like this do not surface often, so if you are a fan of historically significant timepieces, it doesn't get much cooler than this. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. The watch will be shipped tracked and insured, and declared at a low value.
