Description

Enicar Aqua Graph 072-02-02 Mk III

Founded in 1913 by the Racine family, Enicar ('Racine' backwards) grew in popularity thanks to their marketing tactic of supplying mountaineers and other adventurers with their watches in the 1950s. One particularly iconic event in Enicar's growth was when a team of Swiss climbers wore Enicar watches to the top of Lhoste and Mount Everest in 1956. As a result, Enicar registered the sub-brand "Sherpa" and began releasing its first Sherpa watches later in the same year to capitalise on this success. Following on from that, Enicar began to launch other tool watches like the Aqua Graph in 1963, which is a diving chronograph, combining water resistance with the functionality of a chronograph and a rotating 60-minute bezel. Offered here we have a Mk.3 variant of the Aqua Graph from circa. 1967 with a red outer bezel that allowed the wearer to measure elapsed time while diving, without interfering with the bezel’s functionality. Made of stainless steel and measuring 40.5mm in diameter, the Aqua Graph was a huge watch for when it was released, and as a result, it now provides modern collectors to enjoy the world of vintage without compromising on contemporary sizing. THE DIAL Boasting a black dial with aged tritium luminous hour markers, elegantly aged silver subdials and red accents, the Aqua Graph's display gently reveals its age as a robust tool watch filled with 1960s character. THE CONSTRUCTION A massive watch for the 1960s given its 40.5mm diameter, the Aquagraph provides modern collectors with the perfect opportunity to enjoy the world of vintage without compromising on modern styling.
