Description

Ebel 1911 Chronograph 8134901 El Primero Movement 18k YG Launched in 1986 to celebrated their 75th anniversary and named after their founding year, the 1911 collection has grown from a member of their Sport Classic family into one of Ebel’s most iconic offerings, specifically the chronograph variant that we have here. However, rather ironically, this icon status does not come from the 1911 itself, rather the movement it was powered by, with its automatic cal. 134 movement being none other than the Zenith El Primero, the first automatic chronograph movement, depending on who you ask, and the same movement that powered the Rolex Daytona between 1988 and 2000. Offered in 18kt yellow gold, the ref. 8134901 that we have here measures a perfectly modern 38mm in diameter and features a four screws on its bezel that give it a rather sporty aesthetic similar to the Cartier Santos and AP Royal Oak. Sporting a silver dial with golden accents such as its hands, Roman numerals and subdial surrounds, the 1911 Chronograph is luxurious in just about every way you can imagine from its exterior design and construction to the very movement that powers it, which has enabled it to become a rather popular watch amongst those who understand its legacy and intriguing value proposition. THE DIAL Boasting a silver dial with gold dial furniture to match its 18kt yellow gold construction, the 1911 Chronograph was rather high-end across the board to match its top-of-the-line movement. THE CONSTRUCTION Sized at 38mm and boasting an impressively hefty cae thanks to its use of 18kt yellow gold, the 1911 Chronograph retains a modern feel to it on the wrist thanks to the El Primero's still-modern specs and its contemporary design.
