This particular watch has an 18ct yellow gold case. It has a white dial with black roman numerals for hour-markers and blue steel hands. Moreover, the watch features a minute track and a crown which is protected by a protruding case. The watch has a manual movement. Notably, the watch comes with an 18ct yellow gold buckle. This buckle requires a bespoke Cartier strap to be specially fitted to the wearer’s wrist.
The Ceinture was named based on the shape of a belt buckle (it directly translates to belt) with a unique square case featurining corners that appear to be “cut”. The winding crown, which we are accustomed to seeing on Carier watches, is totally flat here and sapphire-less. Instead, it resides in a slot in the watch bezel. This highly desirable features is one that Cartier has named its “remontoir Imperdable” (captive winding).
The first Ceinture was dated in 1927 with its octagonal case design enclosing a hidden crown in the bezel. It was successfully relaunched in the early 1970s for the last time. This rich history on a beautiful watch, discontinued in the 1970s for the last time leaves this watch a desirable and noteworthy addition to any collector’s inventory.
