In 1904, Louis Cartier created the "Santos Watch" in response to the wish of his friend, the famous Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos Dumont, to check the time while flying. This is a men's model with a case diameter of 31.4mm, made possible by the quartz movement in the thin case, a characteristic of Dumont's watches.
