The Papillon Chronograph is remarkable for its original way of measuring time. The way the information is arranged and read on the dial gives it an exclusive style that bears no relation to conventional chronographs. The center of the dial measures the minutes via an ingenious mechanical device positioned on a supporting disc. This disk completes a 360° rotation in 2 hours, and carries two pivoting, independent diamond-shaped hands. While one of the hands, hand a, is positioned on the semicircular segment and signals the minutes with its tip, hand b remains in the folded position throughout the disc's stroke1. When the hand has reached the 55th minute on the display segment, the second hand progressively completes a quarter turn to position itself parallel to the first on the 00 minute indication. This complex and exclusive patented Papillon mechanism is coupled to the hour disc, whose jumping display appears in the window at 12 o'clock. The refined multiplane dial features 2 chronographic counters, graduated over 12 hours and 30 minutes, respectively at 11 and 13 o'clock.
