On October 27, 1815, Abraham-Louis Breguet was appointed Watchmaker to the Royal Navy by the French king Louis xviii. This was not just a symbol of recognition and prestige, but a truly primordial function for the country. At the time, marine chronometers were of vital importance to fleets, as they were used to calculate the position of ships. They had to be precise and able to withstand the constant movement of ships. Today, the timepieces in the Marine line build on Breguet's traditional values, but interpret them in a contemporary way. Their sturdy construction, reinforced case and protected crown, combined with refined craftsmanship, allow them to be worn in all circumstances, with elegance and sportiness.
