Swiss work circa 1980 - Dimensions 25 x 32 mm - Wrist 15.5 cm maximum Gross weight 90.9 g Audemars Piguet's famous Royal Oak watch appeared in 1972, recognizable by its octagonal bezel and integrated bracelet, the fruit of Gerald Genta's pencil. It was Jacqueline Dimier who, following in Gerald Genta's footsteps, turned her attention to the Royal Oak and gave birth to, among others, the ladies' models, the quartz models and their magnificent design, not to mention other Royal Oak references for men. We had to wait just over 5 years, until 1977, to see the appearance of "rectangular" Royal Oak models. Production of these models lasted until the mid-1980s, with a limited number of models produced in succession. While the octagon is not as pronounced as on its mechanical sister, the case does have 8 sides. The old bezel gives way to a more subtly octagonal and much thinner one, still brushed on the surface and polished on the edges. The case also features 4 small lugs at 3, 4, 8 and 10 o'clock.
