Released in 1994 as one of A. Lange & Söhne’s original watches after their relaunch, the Lange 1 is widely considered one of the most recognizable watches Lange has ever created. With its off-center outsize date indication - inspired by the Five-Minute Clock in the Semper Opera House, asymmetrically positioned hour and minute sub-dial, seconds sub-dial at 5 o’clock, and a power-reserve indicator at 3 o’clock, the Lange 1 has become a staple within the brand’s portfolio of iconic timepieces. Combining its heritage-inspired design, the Lange 1 Moon Phase ref. 192.029 was launched in late 2016 as a subtle refinement of Lange’s famed Lange 1 Moon Phase. Taking all of the Lange 1’s iconic design influences, the ref. 192.029 introduced a new level of mechanical marvel to its eponymous complication, with two rotating discs being used to act as both, the moon phase indicator, as the name suggests, and an AM/PM indicator with a bright shade of blue used to depict the cloudless day time sky and a dark blue starry sky for the night. Presented in a perfectly wearable 38.5mm white gold case, the ref. 192.029 remains refined and balanced nicely on the wrist – a nice change of pace from its larger sibling variants. Featuring a galvanized black sterling silver dial, the Lange 1 Moon Phase's dial reveals a beautiful and subtle starry depiction of the night sky in its moon phase indicator that sets it apart from the German watchmaker's other Lange 1 models. Powered by the incredible manual-wind cal. L121.3, the Lange 1 Moon Phase features the German watchmaker's signature 3/4 base plate with incredible finishing throughout and its stunningly hand-engraved balance cock.
