The Ref. 384.029, with its black dial and white gold case, is a superb example of the integration of two Lange&Söhne complications: the unique outsize date and the high-precision moon phase display. The self-winding calibre L086.5 consists of 325 components and is responsible for the complication that gives the watch its name: the moon phase. The star-studded moon disk is connected to a cylinder wheel and keeps moving in synchronization with the moon itself. Once the moon phase display has been set to the correct time and is running continuously, it will not need to be corrected for a one-day error until 122.6 years later, which is one of the main reasons why this model is so popular.
