The Rolex Day-Date, also known as the “Rolex President”, is the epitome of luxury watchmaking. This particular model, reference 1803, dates from around 1968. The watch is crafted entirely from 18-carat yellow gold. The extremely rare “no lume” lavender-grey dial, in excellent condition, is the centrepiece of this example. The 1803, famous for its magnificent step dial, has been produced in a wide variety of dial, case and bracelet configurations. This version features an extremely rare ‘no-lume’ (non-luminescent) lavender-grey dial. This particular piece dates from around 1968 and has retained all its original parts. The dial is in perfect condition. The case has been kept in exceptional condition, making this piece a true collector’s dream. The case is substantial and still has sharp edges. The watch is sold as a “head only” on a leather strap with a generic buckle. The watch comes without a box or paperwork. We provide a Veritas carrying pouch. The movement is the original caliber 1556, which runs perfectly well.
